Located in the sports village on the de Havilland Campus, the University of Hertfordshire Athletic Union is responsible for the management and development of 29 student sports clubs, including 4 martial arts clubs.
The Athletic Union supports students of all sporting ability from beginners to elite performers, whether an elite athlete on a scholarship programme, or a student wishing to participate on a more social or recreational level.
All sports clubs at the university are run by a dedicated committee, consisting of students. The clubs are supported with leadership and guidance from Athletic Union staff that assist in a range of areas including arranging coaching, managing fixtures, booking of facilities, arranging transport to away matches, provision of playing kit, equipment and much more.
Student clubs are allocated specific training times and receive coaching from fully qualified National Governing Body coaches in a suitable venue for the sport. Training sessions take place at the £15 million Hertfordshire Sports Village on the de Havilland Campus or an equivalent venue.
The majority of our sports clubs represent the university by competing in the BUCS and other regional / national leagues and competitions, which are played on Wednesday afternoons or weekends across the country.
The Athletic Union also offers a number of annual events which include the University of Hertfordshire Colours Awards evening and a Varsity clash against the University of Bedfordshire.
