The Sports Scholarship Scheme is currently in it's sixth year of supporting athletes at the University of Hertfordshire.
The programme has developed the range and quality of services offered and continues to grow each year. The quality of athletes supported is reflected in the fantastic BUCS results the university achieved last year.
Here are just a few of the athletes we have supported and who helped the university gain those points:

Sport: Women's Football
Scholarships year: 2008-2011
Achievements:
Won FA Player of the Year and Top Goal Scorer 2009/10
Scored 47 goals in 36 games for Arsenal Ladies 2009/10
Gained 46 caps for Scotland Ladies FC
Scored the winning goal for Arsenal Ladies in the 2009 FA Cup Final
Represented the University of Hertfordshire - National League Champions 08/09 and 09/10
Kim graduated in 2011 with a BSc in Sport Studies.
Name: Fabrizio Gargiulo
Sport: American Football
Scholarship year: 2010/11
Achievements:
Represented the University of Hertfordshire Hurricanes, 2010/11 finalists, for 5 years achieving 2 All-Star selections
Represented GB Lions at the European Championships 2010
Gained 5 caps for Great Britain representation
Fabrizio graduated in 2011 with a Masters degree in Sports Science.

Sport: Badminton
Scholarship year: 2008-2011
Achievements:
Represented the University of Hertfordshire Women's Team - winners of the South Eastern Conference 2009/10
Miriam graduated in 2011 with a BSc (Hons) in Sports Studies.
Name: Ewan Cameron
Sport: Swimming
Scholarship year: 2007-2011
Achievements:
Selected for the Commonwealth Games Trials
Represented the University of Hertfordshire at BUCS Championships
Ewan graduated in 2011 with a Masters degree in Automotive Engineering with Motorsport.
Name: Dave Bell
Sport: Rowing
Scholarship year: 2006-2010

Represented Great Britain at the World University Rowing Championships in 2010
Competed at the European Universities Championships in 2010
Represented UHRC at various BUCS regatta's during his time at the university
Dave graduated in 2010 and is now working for an Accountants Firm.

Sport: Swimming
Scholarship year: 2005-2009
Achievements:
Won silver medal in BUCS Short Course Championships 2008/09
Won silver medal in BUCS Long Course Championships 2008/09
Finished 8th in the 2008 Olympic Trials
John graduated in 2009 and is now receiving support from the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS), a government funded scheme for national level elite athletes.

Sport: Kickboxing

British Kickboxing Champion 2009
Irish Open Champion 2007
European silver medallist 2006
Jem graduated in 2009 with a 2:1 in Sports Therapy. Shortly after graduating she won a Bronze medal at the World Championships in Italy.

JR is one of The Mail newspaper's 'Sportsmail Magnificent Seven' for London 2012.
