The Hockey Club caters to all...those wanting a high level of competition and those simply wanting to get out on a pitch with stick in hand! The Men have 2 teams in the BUCS league and the Womens section has 1. The club also runs a competitive mixed side and have club links with local clubs and those overseas!
The club have the luxury of a great playing surface, good equipment and a group of individuals very keen on helping all and sundry to improve as much as they wish!
Trials are held during the first week of term. You must pre-register to attend at either the AU Sports Fair on Wednesday 29 September or the SU Fresher’s Fair on Friday 1 October where you will be given further information.
The Hockey Club compete in the National University League and cup programmes managed by BUCS:
- Men’s 1st-South Eastern Tier 2B and Conference Cup
- Men’s 2nd-South Eastern Tier 4B and Conference Cup
- Women’s 1st-South Eastern Tier 2B and Conference Cup
The mixed team also compete in the Essex League in the West division on Sundays.
All teams play on Wednesday afternoons, push back vary. Home games are played on our top quality sand-dressed artificial pitch at Hertfordshire Sports Village.
Men: Mondays, 18.00 - 19.30, Sand Astro Pitch, Hertfordshire Sports Village, de Havilland Campus.
Women: Mondays, 19.30 - 21.00, Sand Astro Pitch, Hertfordshire Sports Village, de Havilland Campus.
Mixed: Thursdays, 15.00 - 16.00, Sand Astro Pitch, Hertfordshire Sports Village, de Havilland Campus.
The Hockey Club is coached by a highly experienced and qualified coach.

How do I join the Athletic Union?
To take out one of our superb membership deals you need to come to the Sports Village or the Athletic Union office on the de Havilland Campus with the following:
- Student ID card
- Re-enrolment e-mail (for renewing students)
- Method of payment
- Completed student membership form
How much will it cost?
The £10 Athletic Union start-up fee must be purchased before taking out any of the bolt-ons below:
- AU start-up fee: £10
- AU 1st Representative Club bolt on: £55
- AU 2nd Representative Club bolt on: £30
- AU Semester Representative Club bolt on: £35
- AU Club Health & Fitness Annual bolt on (off peak plus): £195
- AU Club Health & Fitness Semester bolt on (off peak plus): £135
