The University of Hertfordshire Tennis Club is a rapidly expanding sports club which welcomes new members of all abilities. Last year the club grew considerably and is regarded as a club with huge potential.
The club have both a men's and women's team who both compete in the British University and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Leagues. The 2009/2010 season was extremely successful and saw both the Men's and Women's teams finish top of their respective leagues hence securing promotion. This year the clubs goal is to have another outstanding season and continue their winning streaks.
Our tennis sessions are held on Monday nights at Gosling Sports Park in Welwyn Garden City. Gosling is one of 20 High Performances centres in the UK providing us with the best indoor, outdoor and clay court facilities. We also have sessions on Wednesday afternoons on the hard courts at Hertfordshire Sports Village, DeHavilland Campus.
Trials for the BUCS teams are held during the first week of term. You must pre-register to attend at either the AU Sport Fair on Wednesday 29 September or the SU Freshers Fair on Friday 1 October where you be given further information.
The Tennis Club compete in the National University League and cup programmes managed by BUCS:
- Men’s 1st - South Eastern Tier 3B and Conference Cup
- Women's 1st - South Eastern Tier 1A and Championship
All teams play on Wednesday afternoons, start times vary. Home matches are played inside at Gosling Sports Park, one of 20 high performance centres in the UK.
Squad: Mondays, 21.00 - 22.00, Gosling Sports Park, Welwyn Garden City.
Social: Mondays, 21.00 - 23.00, Gosling Sports Park, Welwyn Garden City.
Wednesdays, 14.00 - 17.00, Hard Courts, Hertfordshire Sports Village, de Havilland Campus.
The Tennis Club is coached by highly experienced and qualified coaches.

How do I join the Athletic Union?
To take out one of our superb membership deals you need to come to the Sports Village or the Athletic Union office on the de Havilland Campus with the following:
- Student ID card
- Re-enrolment e-mail (for renewing students)
- Method of payment
- Completed student membership form
How much will it cost?
The £10 Athletic Union start-up fee must be purchased before taking out any of the bolt-ons below:
- AU start-up fee: £10
- AU 1st Representative Club bolt on: £55
- AU 2nd Representative Club bolt on: £30
- AU Semester Representative Club bolt on: £35
- AU Club Health & Fitness Annual bolt on (off peak plus): £195
- AU Club Health & Fitness Semester bolt on (off peak plus): £135
