The Karate-do Shotokai club (UH-KDS) is a well established club celebrating over 18 years under its ‘belt’ at the University of Hertfordshire. The club is open to the beginner and experienced practitioner alike in a friendly environment, and progress of dedicated students is demonstrated by regular gradings.
In its most basic form this traditional style of Karate is concerned with developing: a realistic method of self-defense, fitness, self confidence and improved co-ordination.
In addition to the regular weekly sessions, members of the club are invited to represent the club at a whole calendar of national courses. The club also runs practice sessions out of term for those living locally, giving good value for membership.
Last year the club calendar absolutely brimmed with social events to help bring the club together including meals out, bowling, quiz nights and an evening out at the annual Sports Awards.
UH-KDS is holding a demonstration on Monday 4 October at Hertfordshire Sports Village 20:45 - 22:30. Please wear practical clothing for the activities. (e.g. t-shirt and track suit style trousers).
You must pre-register to attend at either the AU Sports Fair on Wednesday 29 September or the SU Fresher’s Fair on Friday 1 October where you will be given further information.
The Karate Club has the opportunity to enter participants in to the BUCS championships held in Sheffield in March. More information regarding entries can be obtained by contacting the AU office.
Mondays, 21.00 - 22.30, Cricket Hall, Hertfordshire Sports Village, de Havilland Campus.
The Karate Club is coached by a qualified and experienced instructor for every session.
